With the silver medal in the 20 km road walk at the Beijing Olympics, even though his last race was the final of the IAAF Challenge in Murcia on 21 September 2008, Jefferson Leonardo Pérez Quezada abandoned competitions.

It was on August 15, 2008.

Since that date, the best athlete in the history of Ecuador is dedicated to embracing a new life, that of the entrepreneur.

While practicing the sport, Pérez was also formed in University classrooms.

This allowed him to become a professional in Business Administration. Therefore, after the abandonment of trave walking activity, he devoted himself to business marketing and advertising with his JP Sport Marketing.

He also strongly supported the Foundation that bears his name, which was created in 2004, with the aim of helping (even sports) the low-income people, especially the children of the markets.

The Foundation funds with 50% of the money that get in the meetings and in moments of confrontation with private companies.

He also manage a real estate and presides Excellence Radio, FM.

Jefferson believed that his perseverance let him to obtain two medals at the Olympics (gold in Atlanta 1996 and silver in Beijing 2008). These medals have not changed his life extra sport.

Currently, JP Sport Marketing promotes four sporting events:

- Festival of the Foundation of Cuenza about 15Km,

- Huarmi Runner on 5Km,

- La Ruta Nocturna on 10Km

- El Duelo (The Duel)

By those races arose the JP Sports Running Club, whose goal is to help athletes in nutrition, in the medical and psychological care, and other areas of help. JP Sport Running Club welcomes runners and walkers of all ages.

In all his activities, Jefferson worked with his brothers Fabian and Patricia Pérez, and other close relatives. It also provides opportunities to work with other people, directly and indirectly.

Currently, JP Sport Marketing recommends Deportivo Cuenca in the sale of the cards.

According to Perez, the organization of sporting competition aims to generate new lifestyle for people of all ages, male and female. 

Its purpose is to return to his Country what he has received during his career as a walker's elite, even with new projects for the benefit of society.
