28/05/2015   William Zanellini passed away

He left in silence a while ago, at the age of almost 93 years, the last of the big three Italians race walking judges who led the group in the years between 1970 and 1990: William Zanellini.

Marcia dal Mondo has known only in recent days and we apologize to our readers if the information turns out to be late.

William Zanellini, (born in 1922) was alongside Luciano Favati and Pietro Castiglioni, one of the most famous names of the panorama of race walking judges in Italy.

All the most important races of that twenty years in our Country have seen him between the components and also as chief of the race walking jury.

He was also dedicated to teaching; we like to remember him, together with Luciano Favati, as the discoverer and the teacher of the then young Italian race walking judges, Lamberto Vacchi, first, and Nicola Maggio, then, that they were ushering in those Seventies the Italian scene.
