12/06/2015   Alytus (LTU): Victories of Erick Barrondo (GUA) and Neringa Aidietyte (LTU)






It was held yesterday the 41th edition of the International Race Walking Festival, the traditional competition organized by Kastytis Pavillonis to Alytus in Lithuania.

The race was also valid for the award of the title of champion of Lithuania.

 

 

20 km men

 

The victory went to Erick Bernabé Barrondo (GUA) with a time of 1:24:37 so that confirms the success of 2014 in Alytus.

These his spit times at km. (4:16 / 8:30 / 12:48 / 17:05 / 21:20 / 25:34 / 29:47 / 33:58 / 38:14 / 42:27 / 46:42 / 50:54 / 55 : 05 / 59:23 / 1:03:37 / 1:07:56 / 1:12:14 / 1:16:36 / 1:20:44).

In second place and winner of the title of Champion of Lithuania arrives Marius Žiukas ending the race in 1:24:46.

The third place arrivesthe Polish David Tomala in 1:25:02.

 

The race was headed by the trio of the top three until the 19th km when Rarrondo forced the pace to obtain the victory.

 

Of the 21 athletes to the start, 12 completed the race, 7 DNF and 2 DQ.

 

 

20 km Women

 

Beautiful solo race of Neringa Aidietyté who obtains the victory and the Lithuanian title in 1:30: 02, also doubling the success of 2014 in front of the athlete of Guatemala Mirna Ortiz (1:33:06).

For the Lithuanian this time is the season best on the distance.

These her split times per km. (4:21 / 8:47 / 13:14 / 17:41 / 22:07 / 26:23 / 30:59 / 35:27 / 39:54 / 44:24 / 48:56 / 53:25 / 57 : 56 / 1:02:28 / 1:07:01 / 1:11:37 / 1:16:13 / 1:20:50 / 1:25:30).

The third place went to the Greek Despina Zapounidou (1:33:07).

A bit in the shade, due to a virus, the other local star Brigita Virbalité which had to settle for fifth place in a modest 1:36:47 behind the Polish Katarzyna Golba (1:34:11).
