Diego Garcia is unstoppable.

The Spaniard became the protagonist of Grand Prix Diputacion de Caceres in the race of the 5000m track walk, held in Plasencia, where he obtained the new junior record.

The pupil of José Antonio Quintana stopped the clock at 19:03.16, which breaks down to 10" and 97/100 less thatthe previous record, set by same athlete in this same race on July 2 last year (19:24.13).

The race in any case was won by Alvaro Martin Uriol (1994) in 18:56.74, in front of the Venezuelan Richard Vargas Carrillo in 18:58.19

Eighteen athletes at the start, 17 of which they complete the race and the first DQ.

But Diego Garcia was not the only one who brings home a good result.

Even the athlete of Madrid, Lidia Sánchez-Puebla, established the personal best on the distance in 22:01:33, a time that it ranks as the fourth best junior Spanish of all time (her previous best of 22:35.74 was obtained in Pamplona last May 23, 2015).

No doubt that the athlete is in a great state of form in view of the European Junior Championships.

Laura García-Caro finished second in 22:19:42 and Laura Gutiérrez third in 22:44.05.
