They are being held in Turku in Finland the Paavo Nurmi Games to honor the memory of the legendary Finnish runner.
In the program of the meeting of Athletic was the race of 5.000m track walk with five athletes at the start, which now represent the expression of the Finnish race walk.
The victory went to Veli-Matti Partanen that immediately after the first kilometer goes to lead and went with easely.
His time of 19:35.09 is also the athlete's personal best, which broken the previous of 19:46.96 always obtained this year on June 3 in Lapperenranta.
For the Finnish athlete (date of birth: Oct. 28, 1991) this 2015 season is very profitable.
In addition of these two results on the distance of 5.000m track walk, Partanen obtained in Dudince past March 31, 2015 the time of 3:49:02 in the classic 50km, and finished 26th in 20km European Cup in Murcia with time of 1:26.40 at a short distance from the better known team mate Jarkko Kinnunen (24th in 1:26: 03).
His personal best on short Olympic distance is 1:26:35 obtained on April 25, 2009 in Podebrady; we think it’s time for improvement.
In comparison with Jarkko Kinnunen (19:49.09) now Veli-Matti Partanen is in front of the team mate on the hybrid distance of 5.000m which, although it carries little times, sees him currently in 14th place in the top world list, headed now by Yohann Diniz in 18:22:41, while Kinnunen is in 20th position.
The following is moreover the comparison between both athletes on the classic Olympic distance of 20km, which currently sees Kinnunen always victorious
over his teammate.
