This morning, local time, was held in Toronto, the last competition of the program track and field the 50km road walk.
50 km men
Starting on time as scheduled at 7:05 for 14 athletes.
The favour of the eve are divided between the two athletes of Ecuador Andres Chocho (personal best 3:49:32 and Season best of 3:50:34) and Jonnathan Caceres (personal best 3:50:52) and the two athletes of Mexico, Horacio Nava (personal best 3:42 51 and Season best 3:45:41) and David Berdeja (personal best 3:50:19 obtained this year).
At the start of the race also the Guatemalan Erick Barrondo, who seeks redemption after the disqualification in the 20 km (personal best of 3:41:09): if there are no technical problems against him could play for a medal.
The race starts on a pace around 4:30 to 4:32 for the first 5km with the leading group to guide: leaders are Chocho, Nava, Barrondo (22:44).
10km
Not much change in the pace.
Leader is Andres Chocho (ECU) in 45:30, together Horacio Nava, Erick Barrondo, Pavel Chihuan (PER), James Rendon (COL) and Erick Barrondo (GUA). David Berdeja follows a meter.
20km
Same pace.
Continue the leaderships of Andres Chocho in 1:31:06 (~), followed by James Rendon (<) in 1:31:07.
Horacio Nava follows along with Erick Barrondo (1:31:08) in turn followed by Chihuan.
Berdeja is in 6th place in 1:31:09.
25km (half race)
The pace is passed around 4:25-4:30.
Always guide Andres Choco, but he suffers two red cards. (1:53:26).
Second is Nava together with Barrondo (<) and Rendon (<) in 1:53:53.
Follow Chihuan (1:54:12) and Berdeja (1:54:42).
Up now three are DQ: Edward Araya (CHI), Creighton Connolly (CAN) e Jorge Armando Ruiz (COL)
30km
At 29 km force still the pace Chocho (4:26) and lead the race at 30km in 2:15:56.
Second is Horacio Nava in 2:16:59 just over 1 minute from Choco together with Erick Barrondo and James Rendon
David Berdeja follows in 2:17:58 and did not appear in a bright day, but the race is still open.
Pavel Chihuan DNF and then remained in ten.
40km
At 35km Chocho force again the pace (4:28, 4:25, 4:29, 4.37) while Barrondo and Nava cover the following km in (4:39, 4:47, 4:43, 4:53).
Leads Choco in 3:01:16 (but last km suffers: 4.40).
Always follow Barrondo and Nava in 3:26.04.
The advantage of 3:10 should be enough for Choco to get the gold. It remains to see the race for silver and bronze, unless of technical surprises or physical collapse.
Fourth is James Rendon in 3:07:56 and fifth David Berdeja in 3:08:07
At the arrival
Always regular trhe pace ofAndres Chocho (now around 4:45 per lap).
Give way Barrondo at km 42 (5:58) while Nava covers this km in 5:06.
At 45 km the medals would be these: Andres Choco (3:25:14). There is less than half an hour for the glory.
Silver: Erick Barrondo, who has recovered (3:30:00)
Bronze: Horacio Nava (3:30:05), but, except the gold, medals are still all to play for.
Between 45 and 46Km Barrondo left off Nava. It approaches for him after so many disqualifications the day of glory.
Jonathan Rieckmann (BRA) DNF, then remain in nine.
Continue the triumphal walk of Andres Choco: (47km: 3:55:08, 48km: 3:40: 09, 49km: 3:45:06).
With a last km in 5:07 Andres Choco wins gold in 3:50.13 (Season best) after all the race as leader.
Silver to Erick Barrondo in 3:55:57 and bronze to Horacio Nava in 3:57.28.
