Were held on Saturday, 5; Sunday 6 and Monday, September 7 Autumn Chinese NationaL Championships in Changbaishan, a city about 800 km. east of Beijing near the border with North Korea at an altitude of 700 meters.
After the huge success of the World Championships, China has confirmed in these championships all its enormous potential.
More than 500 athletes raced with chrono of absolute value.
20 km Women
Excellent in the 20 km. female the races of: Qieyang Shenjie, discarded at the last moment from the selection for the World Championships where, given the physical conditions shown in this race, she could have led to a sensational hat-trick to China, and Hou Yongbo, young athlete born in 1994, already winner this year in Nomi (JPN) of the Asian Championships.
These are Qieyang Shenie split times every 5 km: 22:54 - 45:11 (22:17) - 1:07:08 (21:57) - 1:28:27 (21:19)
20 km men
In the 20 km. male is highlighted with a convincing 1:19:49 another young man of great future, Wang Kaihua (1994).
Results just acceptable, however, in the 50 km.
Impressive the youth level.
In the 10 km. male Junior and Youth as many as 15 athletes under 41:30. (25 under 42:00).
The 30 km. Junior (although many athletes have doubled) confirmed (along with the results of 50 km.) the difficulty of China on longer distances.
Athletes walking on the pace of 42:00 in 10km should have, with proper training, better times on longer distances.
A glimmer of light on these distances showed it in World Championships: Zhang Lin (6th place), boy of 1993, able to improve in 3:44:39 in a particularly difficult day.
These the results of 30km junior:
YANG Dedong (1996) = 2:14:54
LANG Xiao (1996) 2:15:55
SUN Song (1996) =2:16:08
YANG Hu (1996) = 2:16:58
ZHAXI Yangben (1997) = 2:17:49
MU Linjie (1997) 2:18:04
10 km Youth (boys and girls)
Excellent also the situation in the female youth categories where 10 athletes walked under 46:00.
To remark the results of 43:19 obtained by Jiayu Yang (1996).
Were absent the winner of the World Youth Championships in Cali, Ma Zhenxia and vice-youth Champion in male Zhang Yun.
