The Spanish athlete Miguel Angel Lopez, world champion in Beijing 2015, 20 km walk, was awarded by the trophy Jose Luis Alonso "Spanish athlete of the year" (man or woman), in front of high jumper Ruth Beitia, who won the previous three editions.

Lopez received 1,302 points from a jury composed of 114 representatives from all levels of Spanish athletics (managers, statisticians, journalists, coaches, clubs, judges and athletes), compared with 1,284 of Ruth Beitia and to 1.051 of another stainless walker, Jesus Angel García Bragado.

The atlete of Murcia, which in the previous three years was best Spanish male athlete, will receive the trophy on 15 December in Madrid.

El murciano Miguel Ángel López, campeón mundial de 20 km marcha en Beijing 2015, fue distinguido con el trofeo José Luis Alonso "al atleta español del año" (hombre o mujer), por delante de la saltadora de altura Ruth Beitia, ganadora los tres años anteriores.

 

López recibió 1.302 puntos de un jurado compuesto por 114 representantes de todos los estamentos del atletismo español (directivos, estadísticos, periodistas, entrenadores, clubes, jueces y atletas), frente a los 1.284 de Ruth Beitia y los 1.051 de otro marchador, Jesús Ángel García Bragado.

 

El murciano, que en los tres años anteriores fue mejor atleta masculino español del año, recibirá este trofeo el 15 de diciembre próximo en Madrid.
