Today took place in Cali, Colombia during the Colombian Games the race walk events.
20 km men
In the men's 20 km race. Eider Arévalo started with a fast pace, searching of a great performance, because he was convinced that his condition was to finish the race around 1:20:00.
Leonardo Montaña and Iván Garrido tried to follow him. Eider Arenalo but continued to walk at very fast pace.
As sometimes happens, the action was not considered proper by the jury and to the ninth kilometer he was disqualified.
Inevitable the controversies of Arévalo, who has complained about the difference between the judgment against him at the World Championships in Beijing where he finished the race without any red card and the race of Cali.
The victory went then to Ivan Garrido who finished in 1:27:42.
Second place went to Luis Fernando Lopez in 1:30:46 while in third place arrived Jorge Armando Ruiz in 1.33:16
Nine athletes at the start of which five have completed the race, 3 DNF and 1 DQ.
20 km Women
Quiet victory for Sandra Lorena Arenas in 1:34:51 confirming the entry standard for the Olympic Games (1:36:00).
The second Sandra Viviana Galvis, with a time of 1:35:54 obtain there standard too.
Third arrives Yeselda Isaid Carrillo in 1:38:41
Seven athletes at the start and all have completed the race.
50 km
James Rendón, Alexander Castañeda and Omar Sierra, all of Bogota, have taken the lead from the very first stage of the race, but only James was able to maintain that pace.
His companions were then paid the initial effort with the withdrawal, and Omar Sierra was taken away on a stretcher.
At this point James Rendón did not force too much and ended the test in 4:02:07.
Second Ferney Alexis Rojas in 4:09:09, while in third place comes Marlon Stiben Florez in 4:14:07 in front of the fourth and latest arrived Rodrigo Moreno Mudar (4:19:59).
