Next Wednesday and Thursday (December 2 and 3) the TAS in Lausanne will judge the appeal by the IAAF against the banning periods of 3 years and 2 months idecided by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (Rusada) against the medalists of the Olympic Games in London 2012:
- Sergey Kirdyapkin (gold in the 50km)
- Olga Kaniskina (silver in the 20km).
Recall that the banning periods of Rusada started "after London" and safeguarded the Olympic podiums of the two athletes.
The IAAF had already filed an appeal last March.
In the case the TAS accept the appeal, the situation could become the following:
20 km Women:
Gold: Yelena Lashmanova (RUS)
Silver: from Olga Kaniskina (RUS) to Qieyang Shenjie (CHN)
Bronze: from Shenjie Qieyang (CHN) to Liu Hong (CHN)
The Italians
Elisa Rigaudo: rise from 7th to 6th place
Anna Eleonora Giorgi: rise from 14th to 13th place
50 km men
Gold: from Sergey Kirdyapkin (RUS) to Jared Tallent (AUS)
Silver: from Jared Tallent (AUS) to Si Tianfeng (CHN)
Bronze: from Si Tianfeng (CHN) to Robert Heffernan (IRL)
The Italians
Marco De Luca would pass from 17th to 16th place
In the same days they will also be discussed the IAAF appeals against the disqualification of Sergey Bakulin, Valeriy Borchin and Vladimir Kanaikin, without any impact on the medals in London, while they could have it on the results of the World Championships in Berlin 2009 and Daegu 2011 as well as those of the European Cup.
