This afternoon took place in Padua race walking events of the 5th Regional Meeting Open.
5.000m indoor race walk men
As we indicated in our forecast of the eve for success it was limited to three athletes: Alberto Zaupa, Alessando Rigamonti and Tommaso Romagnoli.
Soon after the start it became clear that the technical level would do its part and it did.
Tommaso Romagnoli, who was credited with the best time was disqualified around the 2,000m race, three red cards for bent knee.
The battle for victory here has narrowed between Alessandro Zaupa (Veneto) and Alberto Rigamonti (Lombardia)
Alberto Zaupa prevailed with a nice and clean walk in 21:43.94 in front of Alessandro Rigamonti, (two reda cards against him), who finished in 21:46.98.
In third place another Lombardic athlete Andrea Corradini in 25:27.74.
With this success the athlete coached by Vittorio Visini makes a big leap in quality by lowering his personal best of 1:28.92 (the previous one of 23:12.86 was obtained in Ancona on Feb. 7, 2015).
3.000m. indoor race walk women
It took two timed sessions for the high number of participants: 29 were in fact the athletes at the start.
The victory went as expected to Valentina Trapletti in 13:06.03 in front of the U23 Nicole Colombi (13: 32.91).
In third place ranked Sibilla Di Vincenzo in 13:40.77
