He had been with Giuseppe Dordoni, William Zanellini and Luciano Favati one of my teachers to whom I owe much of my knowledge.
Yesterday morning Jean Dahm has reached the threshold of 92 years, his friend Pino Dordoni.
He was one of the most famous Walking Judges that our cousins of France had between the years 70 and 90, and now the baton is passed to his son Jean Pierre we all know.
Jean was a lover of race walking and a careful judge, as well as being a member of the IAAF Race Walking Committee from 1991 to1999.
Many in Italy will remember him for that unexpected run-up after the disqualification of Nadezhda Riashkina in the 10 km. Women European Championships in Split 1990 who led the race just a few meters in front of Ileana Salvador, on the penultimate lap, and that then paved the way for the victory of Anna Rita Sidoti, from which are now gone 25 years.
The writer will remember forever, as well as a teacher, as a close friend who helped him the first international experience for which I will always be grateful.
Thanks Jean and rest in peace.
Heartfelt condolences Jean Pierre
