On the occasion of the Italian Indoor Championships U20 and U23 it took place in Ancona a National Convention of Race Walking Judges which was also attended by the IAAF Judge of Portugal Jose Dias, who will be part of the jury of the next Olympic Games in Rio.
The theme has been debated was: "Judging in Race Walking today: analysis and prospectives".
During the two days the following interesting speakers' were held:

Nicola Maggio: The new frontier of the Pit Lane and six years of judging in Italy and in the World
José Dias (POR): Race Walking judges in Portugal, structure and evaluation
After witnessing the races of the Italian Indoor Championships U20 and U23 in which he also officiated the IAAF Judge, José Dias, there was a very interesting round table, with the coaches who participated in the Convention and moderated by a member of the IAAF Technical Committee, Luca Verrascina and by the Chairman of IAAF Race Walking Committee, on the decision of the jury in the four races of the Championships.
During this debate, the European Race Walking Judge, Mara Baleani, who acted as Chief Judge in the Campionships, presented in a sort of "open post-race meeting" the decisions of the jury in theme championships and the Summary Sheet. It was also announced the publication on line of the Summary of the races in Italy from 2016.
On this item, Enrico Benes of FIDAL Servizi presented the new electronic data transmission system (yellow paddles and red cards) of recent release in Italy (by tablet) and has been tested on the occasion of these Championships.
On the morning of the second day were presented by:
Sandro Damilano: The judgment from the coach's point of view and some valuation models.
Gianni Perricelli and Gaspare Pavei: Technique and Biomechanics of Race Walking: field experiences and comparing with laboratory data.
At the very interesting final debate was attended besides the judges and the coaches also the Oragnisational Director of Fidal, Massimo Magnani.
The day ended with the thanks and greetings from the President of Fidal, Alfio Giomi.
Marcia dal Mondo will publish as soon as possible all acts of the Convention.
