04/04/2016   Helsinki 2005: Voyevodin re-tested positive after nine years

Another defeat for the world of race walking; another late doping case.
Once again lengthens the list of walkers doped in Russia.

Some time ago have been re-tested (within 10 years provided by WADA deadline) the test tubes of the Helsinki World Championships in 2005 and another 18 athletes were found positive.

Among them the famous names of Tatyana Lysenko (hammer), Olga Ryabinkina (shot put) and Yuliya Pechonkina (400 hs).
Race walking also contributes unfortunately with Aleksey Voyevodin
In Helsinki he had obtained the silver medal in 50 km road walk with the time of 3:41:25.

The beneficiaries would then be just the Italian Alex Schwazer (which would rise from third to second place in 3:41:54) and Norway's Trond Nymark who would get the bronze in 3:44.04.
