Good the overall participation with more than 100 walkers at the start in the various categories.
In youngest races we have seen some beautiful individuality such as: Sara Buglisi (Sport Club Merano) in the category U16; Andrada Lavinia Lacatus (Bovisio) in U18 girls and Davide Marchesi (Riccardi) in the U18 boys.
In the main categories, there was the participation of some Chinese athletes who are completing in Saluzzo the preparation to the IAAF Race Walk World Ream Championships. Note that these days the whole Chinese team (about 40 people) is training on the streets of Saluzzo.
5 km women
Victory to Qieyang Shenije. The vice-London 2012 Olympic champion won with a time of 23:22 (last 2 km. walked in 8:25) in front of the evergreen Rossella Giordano (24:27) and Marie Polli (25:03).
5 km men
In the men's competition first 4 places to the Chinese team. Good performance of the Italians Marco Morotti, Giovanni Renò and Stefano Chiesa that for 3km. they have maintained the pace of Asians.
Victory at the sprint to Cai Zelin in 20:53 that preceded of 1 second Yu Wei and 2 seconds Zhang Ling. The three Chinese athletes walked the last two k. in 7:36. In fourth place the young Zhou Gowen (year of birth 1997) in 21:08.
And scrupulous attention to detail, as always of the organization headed by Peter Pastorini. This year is changed the historical course.
