13/05/2016   Focus on Ethiopia

Last year in Cali when the Ethiopian Ayalnesh Dejene won the bronze in the World Championships U18 in 22:48.25 is 5.000m track walk appeared to be the result of a lucky day.

Less than a year later we find out that in the country of Haile Gebrselassie even begins to think about eace walk.

Ethiopia was presented in Rome with a full team in the 20 km women, and between the three representatives there too, Ayalnesh Dejene, born in Jan. 20, 1998 little more than eighteen years old, an age when in our home is think only to race at distances less than or equal to 10km.

On your marks, gun: and she and her two companions Askale Tiksa (July 21, 1994) and Aynalem Eshetu (February 5, 1992) also had the impudence to stick around for a bit in the top group together with Chinese, Italian, Brazilian between to general amazement.

If the judgment of the Rome 2016 jury had a sense, well, we have to say that the Ethiopian team came out brilliantly.

Alongside the final results of the three athletes even no one of those symbols that so much concern the male and female walkers worldwide.

Sandro Damilano in his post-race interview on the success of Liu Hong, to the interviewer's question about the walk of the three Ethiopians expressed with this simple phrase: "And certainly they are walking.”

At the end the three African finished in 16th place per team after the Brazil of Erica de Sena.
