04/06/2016   Monterrey (MEX): Mexican Championships of 20km






At the end of the road walk events of Mexican Championships in Athletics has been defined the male and female team that will participate in the 20 km of the Rio de Janeiro Games.
 
Men
 
Ever Palma Olivares
Julio César Salazar
Pedro Daniel Gómez
 
Women
 
Guadalupe González Romero
Alejandra Ortega Solis
Guadalupe Sánchez Magaña
 
Whereas in women there was no surprise having qualified three athletes who had the best three results, there was a surprise in the men's race as Omar Pineda, who had the best time has abandoned the race to a knee injury.
In addition, the athlete who had the second best time, Jesus Tadeo Vega, finished the race in eighth place, and then out of the six required by Mexican Federation to confirm the inclusion in the team for Rio, according to their criteria.
 
The competitions were held at a temperature of over 36° Celsius and with a more than 60% humidity.

20 km men
 
The victory goes to Ever Palma Olivares with a time of 1:26:41.
We remember that recentrly past April 9, 2016 in Podebrady (CZE) the strong Mexican walker broke his personal best with the time of 1:19:38.
Second place went to Julio Cesar Salazar Enriquez with a time of 1:26:52
The fight for third place and the bronze: third Ricardo Ortiz Rivera (1:27:29) in front of Jorge Alejandro Martinez Baez (1:27:31) and Daniel Pedro Gomez Cruz (1:27:51).
 
 
20 km women
 
Absent Maria Guadalupe González Romero, after the brilliant performance in Rome in 2016, the victory goes to the twenty-one year old Alejandra Ortega Solis with the time of 1:38:25.  In the final of the race she force the pace and won on Maria Guadalupe Sánchez Magaña ending in 1:39 00.
The bronze goes to Monica Equihua Solorzano in 1:41:24.
