18/06/2016   This weekend in Italy

We start the new section.

National University Championships - Modena

The most striking result of this weekend is the one obtained by Francesco Fortunato in Modena in the 5.000m track walk at the National University Championships.

The time obtained (18:53.91) places him now in third place in the world rankings over the distance which is currently led by Australian Dane Bird-Smith (18:38.97) and in second place the French Yohann Diniz (18:42.96)  in front of the Japanese Eiki Takahashi (19:02.91).

Good result of Mariavittoria Becchetti (23:02.79) in the same female race of the University National Championships.

The Rieti girl redeems herself readily from the DQ suffered last week in the Italian Championships U23 in Bressanone.

In female race absolutely new and unexpected the victory to Andrada Lavinia Lacatus (coached by Michele Castaldo) covering the distance of 5.000m track walk in 24:47.84 new Personal Best, which also improves her time on road 5km obtained in Lomello (ITA) on April 24, 2016 (25:17).

Under the usual level the favorite Anthea Mirabello ending the race in 25:34.52, far from the personal best of 24:03.2 (obtained in San Cesareo, Roma on February 21, 2016) and arrived only in fourth place.
