22/06/2016   Ceremony at the Quirinale: an out unexpectedly program

This morning, rule-abiding to the "whereabout" legislation presented by Elisa Rigaudo, a German Doping Control Officer has been presented to the Quirinale Palace to perform a surprise blood/urine test.

The Italian walker was present at the Presidency of the Republic this morning for the delivery by the flag of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, at two Italian bearer in Rio, Federica Pellegrini and Martina Caironi. Elisa Rigaudo for today had indicated  a range of availability and notified promptly all their movements.

The Doping Control Officer was not admitted to the palace, but it was agreed with the athlete and his staff to postpone it at the end of the ceremony at the House of the Weapons at Foro Italico.

The explanation of the facts directly by Elisa Rigaudo on his Facebook page:

Today it happened that being in pre Olympic training in Roccaraso  (AQ) I gave availability the morning at the Quirinale in Rome and in the evening in Roccaraso (AQ)

The Doping Control Officer left this night at 3:00 AM from Germany and to avoid to drive unsuccessfully until Roccaraso where I had the availability later in the evening he went to the Quirinale.

Unaware of what was the Quirinale he tried to enter.

After the function with the President but to rush to the test cones.

Then we explained the whole thing to German DCO who I state, was playing only his work, it is as if he had tried to enter the offices of Angela Merkel in Berlin.

Surprised and clarified the situation we tried to play down.
