Professor Fausto Mendoza Cajas, former president of the Ecuadorian Federation of Athletics and one of the most important leaders of the Consudatle in recent decades, died June 24 at age 71. Consudatle has decreed three days of mourning in his honor.
Fausto Mendoza also was a member of the IAAF Race Walking Committee since 2001. It is a specialty which contributed vigorously and so many glories has given the athleticism of his country, especially through the conquests of Jefferson Perez, from Cuenca, the same city where Fausto lived.
It was linked to athletics through the American professor Richard Boroto, he became head of the Association of the province and around 1984 and was integrated into the management teams of the Ecuadorian Federation. He presided over several periods and remained there until 2013, in addition to also collaborate with the Sports Federation of Azuay.
The South American athletic community pays its tribute in this hour and transmits condolences to his family.
