In Durban the African Championships in Athletics a surprising result in race walk.

The favorites seemed to be Hassanine Sebei (TUN) and Lebogang Shange (RSA) having the best time of accreditation.

The surprise was the victory instead of Samuel Gathimba (KEN), which relegates to the second and third place the pair of Tunisia and South Africa.

But the even bigger surprise is given by the time of the winner (1:19:24) representing the second African performance ever after that of Hatem Ghoula (TUN) who had obtained on May 5, 1997 in Eisenhuttenstadt the first minus 1:20:00 of the history of the African continent (1:19:02).

Second is Hassanine Sebei (TUN) in 1:20:57

Third is Lebogang Shange (RSA) in 1:21:41

Also in this race the victory of Kenya.

The title of Africa Champion goes to Grace Wanjiru (KEN) in 1:30:43.

herShe also set a new African record demolishing its previous performance of 1:34:19 obtained in Nairobi on August 1, 2010.

Second place went to Yehualeie Beleev Mitiku (ETH) in 1:31:58

Third place went to Chahinez Nasri (TUN) in 1:34:45.
