27/06/2016   Cheboksary (RUS): Russian Championships race walking 2016






On the occasion of Russian championships were held in Cheboksary also the usual road walk races on the classic Olympic distances.

 

50 km

 

The race was held yesterday in the rain for its entire duration.

From the first kilometer goes to lead the couple composed by Denis Nizhegorodov and Roman Evstifeev imposing their own pace around 3:46:00-3:47:00.

After the 40th km Nizhegorodov force a bit and Evstifeev is in crisis. Another five kilometers and then it will be forced to abandon the race.

 

The victory goes to Denis Nizhegorodov in 3:44:47.

Curiosity: the time obtained by Nizhegorodov is the same as that obtained in Rome by Marco de Luca at the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships.

 

Silver medal for Sergey Sharipov with the new personal best of 3:46.91 (the previous 3:57:50 had been established in Murcia - ESP on May 17, 2015 at the European Cup).

Bronze medal for  Vladimir Saksin in 4:04:42 also at personal best (the previous 4:16:40 had beed established last year in Cheboksary on June 12, 2015). This year on 35km he obtained in Sochi on februay 27, 2016 the performance of 2:47:30.

 

 

20 km men

 

Immediately after the start goes to lead a group of six athletes who then at mid-race is reduced to four.

They are: Dementyev Cheparev, Sergey Shirobokov, Nikolay Markov and Petr Bogatyrev.

The turning point of the race takes place towards the 16km, when was disqualified Bogatyrev and Sergey Shirobokov force the pace with a couple of km in 3:52.

The young Russian (year of birth 1999) who had been Youth World Champion in Cali, last year (42:24.41) won the race in the good time, given his age, of 1:22:31.

 

Silver medal for Dementyev Cheparev with the new personal best of 1:22:54. It shattered the 1:27:05 time made in Sochi on February 27, 2016.

Bronze Medal for Nikolay Markov in 1:23:31.

 

 

20 km women

 

Twenty-five athletes at the start and immediately after the start a group of four athletes goes to lead the race.

They are: Elena Lashmanova, Nadezhda Sergeeva, Marina Pandakova and Svetlava Vasilyeva.

Split times: 22:09 at 5km and 43:32 at half race.

 

Towards the seventh km Elena Lashmanova and Svetlava Vasilyeva had forced the pace and pulled the other, but Vasilyeva had already received two red cards by Russian judges, but had decided to continue along Lashmanova.

 

The 15 km was covered in 1:04:58 by Elena Lashmanova closely followed by Vasilyeva, who shortly after will be disqualified.

Soon after also Nadezhda Sergeeva was DQed.

 

Victory then the loneliness for Elena Lashmanova that breaks down the wall of 1:25:00 (for her a personal best of 1:24:58).

Second place went to Ekaterina Medvedeva, in 1:26:45.

Bronze for Maria Ponomareva in 1:26:46.
