27/06/2016   Birmingham (GBR): Victory of Dane Bird-Smith, Tom Bosworth champion UK Athletics






Very interesting results, yesterday in Birmingham (GBR) in the third day of the UK Championships.

 

5.000m track walk men

 

The open competition have seen a great deal of live among the heads up between Tom Bosworth (GBR) and Dane Bird-Smith (AUS) who alternate in leading the group with the following split times:

- 1,000m: Bosworth in 3:48.26

- 2,000m: Bird-Smith in 7:39.63 (3:51.37)

- 3.000m: Bosworth in 11:29.54 (3:49.91)

- 4.000m: Bird-Smith in 15:22:15 (3:52.61)

 

In the final km the Australian Dane Bird-Smith was capable of a split of 3:46.61 and won with the very good time of 19:08.76.

The Australian athlete is the world leader this year on the distance with the time of 18:38.97 established in Melbourne on March 5, 2016.

In second place arrived Tom Bosworth (GBR) with a time of 19:13.56 (season best) that reserves the gold medal at the UK Championships.

 

Third came (and silver for UK Championships)  Callum Wilkinson (U20) in 19:54.47 (personal best - former 20:21:57 always got in Birmingham on July 5, 2015).

Fourth arrived (and bronze for the UK Championships) Cameron Corbishley in 20:50.91.

Victory to Bethan Davies in 22:03.82.
Second place to Sophie Lewis Ward in 24:24.47
Third place to Brianna Mulvee in 24:35.56
