Last night in Trento on the occasion of the 41st Grand Prix of middle-distance there was a 5.000m track walk event.
At the race participated, in order to verify the status of their shape before leaving to Rio de Janeiro, Eleonora Giorgi and Matteo Giupponi.
As challenger the two athletes coached by Enzo Fiorillo, Leonardo Dei Tos and Valentina Trapletti.
5.000m track walk men
The winner was just the 24 year old Leonardo Dei Tos with the time of 19:28.20 (in first edition of the results are reported a 18:28.20 that if it were true it would be the best world performance of the distance; after was corrected).
Second place to Matteo Giupponi in 19:42.65.
Third place went to Cesare Cozza in 21:58.12.
5.000m track walk women
At female level Eleonora Giorgi won in 21:02.78 representing the best world performance of the year improving the performance 21:09.04 obtained by Raquel Gonzalez past June 30, 2016 in Barcelona. immediate then the answer of Giorgi to the Spanish who established in Gijon last Saturday the new Spanish records on the double distance of 10,000m track walk.
Behind Eleonora Giorgi second place to Valentina Trapletti with the time of 21:42.05 improving her personal best by 1/100.
Third place went to Erika Pontarollo in 28:45.28.
