On September 18, at Sagamihara Gion Stadium in Japan, the Kanto University Athletics Championships for students of freshman and sophomore was held.

In men 10000m. track walk, Masaya Ishikawa (JPN) won the gold medal at 43:04.72.
Silver medal to Shunta Saito (JPN) finished in second place with the time of 43:22.89. The third place to Toshifumi Kanzawa (JPN) with the time of 44:00.43.
Twentyfive walkers at the start; 21 finished the race, 4 were DQ.
