02/10/2016   Finals Clubs Championships: the results

The final five of the U18 Club’s Championships, with regard to walking events, yesterday gave their verdict in the races in different cities that saw engaged the best Italian U18 athletes.

We remember the locations:

Bergamo: Final A

Bovolone: Final B - North East

Genoa: Final B - North West

Florence: Final B - Tirreno

Macerata: Final B - Adriatico

A total of 63 athletes at the start (26 boys and 37 girls).

The venue that has seen more athletes to start was precisely that of Bergamo (Final A with 10 boys and 9 girls).

The venues that saw less athletes at the start were two: that of Genoa (Final B - North West with 4 boys and 6 girls) and Florence (Final B - Tirreno with 2 boys and  8 girls).

The  comparisons at a distance:

U18 boys

We said in the presentation of the race that the distance comparison had to be the one between Orsoni and Magistri (racing in Bergamo), Fanelli (racing in Macerata) and Marchesi (racing in Genoa).

If one can speak of victory in a confrontation in different conditions and with different juries, this went to Davide Marchesi who finished his race in Genoa with a time of 21:48.79 (he had a previous personal best of 21:42.16 and then walked of his time).

Second place in this ideal ranking goes to Riccardo Orsoni with a time of 21:53.73 which for him is the new personal best over the distance (he had a previous best of 22:13.42).

It follows in third place Luca Magistri with the time of 22:24.29 new personal best (he had a previous personal best of 22:29.99).

Nicolas Fanelli who had the best time of accreditation (21:21:24) was satisfied, in a race for him without competition stimuli, to win in 23:12.5

U18 girls

Undertone, despite competing together in Florence, the first two of the female comparison that is still won by Angelica Mirabello in 25:13:30 (but note that the athlete has the personal best of 21:21:24).

Then second in the race, and in the confrontation this time real, Francesca Azzurra Pini in 25:25.96 she too distant from her personal best of 24:38.52.

The other of the favorites Alessia Mastronicola without strong opponents in Macerata win the race in 26:36.22 well away from her personal best of 24:49.01, and is exceeded in this distance comparison from Francesca Bocchino who wins the Final A in Bergamo with a new personal best of 26:18:15 (she had a personal best of 26:38.12).

Technical judgment

We propose to our readers in the two following tables the numerical results of the technical evaluation in the different locations, with juries obviously different.

We remember that the races were held with the Pit Lane rule that provides the stop of 60” to the third red card and the DQ only at the fourth.

A brief reflection is imposed: by 63 athletes at the start (26 boys and 37 girls) unfortunately 12 (4 boys and 1 gir DQ'ed and 7 girls with three red cards penalized in the Pit Lane) athletes (almost 28%) they showed, according to the judges, some technical level deficiencies.
