23/11/2016   Marie Polli (SUI): decided to finally hang up her boots

Born November 28, 1980, in a few days will turn 36 years many of which are dedicated to race walking.

We are talking about one of our neighbor, Marie Polli, the athlete of Ticino Switzerland which together with her sister Laura has represented the epitome of female walking in our neighbors across the Alps.

Marie Polli decided to finally hang up her boots.
After 28 seasons (she started as a child) puts an end by declaring that the high-level activities will not be part of his daily.

A beautiful reminder of the 28 seasons it has released on the personal website of Polli Sisters. Below we report the link with which she greets friends and supporters. Fron this message we extrapolate two of the most significant sentences that frame her philosophy:

Internationally I have not even won a medal, but I can say I have won more. Sport as a "training ground for life" and not just saying that.
...
The practice a sport has taught me to know myself, my body, my limits and try to overcome them.

The five participations in the World Championships in Athletics (Osaka 2007, Berlin 2009, Daegu 2011, Moscow 2013 and Beijing 2015), and participation in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens are the gems of an endless career that has seen her compete for her Country 17 times in the road team competitions (8 times in the European Cup and 9 times in the World Cup).

These are her personal bests:
