04/12/2016   Headlines abiding Abdon Pamich and Pino Dordoni

“In that moment I realized that we border people have two souls and for that, many times, we feel lost in the world in which we live. At that moment my two souls came together and I felt like at home.

Yes, the wound was still open! Despite all life continues”.

Ends with this sentence the book "Memories of a walker" by Abdon Pamich and the journalist Roberto Covaz, which Marcia dal Mondo, first among others, has reported on August 6, 2016.

This week, as we hope, it will be perhaps the wound closed.

Is today's news that the direction of the Elementary Institute of Italian Language, located in the district of Stranga, between Podmurvize and Potok in Rijeka, wanted to make a commendable gesture.

In a fantastic and touching meeting with Abdon Pamich, returned once again in his Fiume (now Rijeka, CRO), the Institute's director has dedicated the gym school to the winner of the 50km race walking of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964.

They were present, as well as the director also the physical education teacher of the school "Gelsi" (the same one that had attended Abdon Pamich), the students of sixth and seventh grade and even two students of the high Italian school of Fiume.

Accompanying Abdon Pamich there were also his sister Irma and the brothers Raoul and Giovanni get together in their hometown after 60 years.

2016 is a golden year to commemorate two historic Italian winners of the 50km Olympic: Abdon Pamich and, before him, Giuseppe "Pino" Dordoni. Some months ago, in fact, the City of Bologna had dedicated to the athlete of Piacenza a pedestrian area called "Walk Pino Dordoni" within the Garden Lunetta Gamberoni in San Lazzaro  di Savena suburb of Bologna.
