The December 30, 2016 we had the news of the composition of the national team of the Republic of Mordovia for the year 2017. On the same day were held in Saransk the Indoor Open Championships.
Race walk 2012 London Olympic champion and 2013 World champion Yelena Lashmanova started into new season with victory at open Mordvinian indoor champs and Skurygin Memorial
The news come from TASS referring to press secretary of Saransk sport school of Olympic reserve Maksim Saushkin.
The 24-year-old Russian clocked 20:15.6 over 5000m indoor in front of Yekaterina Medvedeva (20:23.2) and Sofya Brodatskaya (20:48.9).
In men race at the same distance national team members Stanislav Yemelyanov (19:43.4) and Denis Nizhegorodov (20:37.6) finished only fourth and eight respectively. Sergey Shirobokov won with 19:00.4.
