10/01/2017   Addis Abeba (ETH): Victory of Askale Tiksa on 10.000m track walk

It was almost gone unnoticed to most people, but January 5, 2017 in Addis Abeba (ETH) has had confirmation that race walk in Ethiopia is growing too fast enough.

In a local meeting on track there was the success of the athletes who participated in the IAAF World Race Walk Team Championships in Rome in 2016 with discrete time results.

We remember them Askale Tiksa had set in Rome a new record of Ethiopia in 1:34:50 arriving 47th, while her team-mates Aynalem Eshetu and Ayalnesh Bejene had arrived respectively 66th and 71th.

Absent in Addis Ababa Aynalem Eshetu, the typical hierarchies have been met.

Victory of Askale Tiksa (ETH) with the manual time of 46:18.6 new personal best of the athlete (the previous was 50:55.75 and had  been established in Addis Ababa on June 30, 2013).

Just to make sense of this performance, we remember that in the same day, thousands of kilometers away in Australia in Canberra Brigita Virbalite-Dimsiene (LTU) had won the race with a time of 46:25.61 in front of Regan Lamble (AUS) and Alana Barber (NZL).

In second place Ayalnesh Dejene (ETH) stopped the clock at 46:41.7, with an hypothetical position directly behind Alana Barber (46:36.43).

Third place went to Yehualye Belete Mitiku (ETH) in 46:59.6.

For lovers of statistics reported below her progression over the years in 20km
