17/01/2017   Campo de Criptana (ESP): Victories to Manuel Bermudez Jimenez and Amanda Cano






An intense weekend of athletics this week in Campo de Criptana, near Madrid with race walk and cross country.

 

Saturday the walk events of the Trophy Villa de los Molinos.

As always happens in Spain, the races are open to all categories to allow the organizers to offer a numerically interesting product to the local audience.

 

We will limit ourselves to indicate the main results in the news, then returning to details in the individual categories to the relevant section.

 

 

10km men

 

The race was literally dominated by Manuel Bermudez Jimenez, who many will remember the second (40:27) in the U20 race at the IAAF Race Walk World Team Championships in Rome 2016. His time at Campo de Criptana was 41:43.

 

Second place went to Victor Manuel Castro Mateo in 46:27 new personal best (previous 46:38 obtained in Caceres on March 20, 2016).

Third place went to Roberto Perez Vieiro in 47:13 (the first in U18).

 

The first in U20 was Brais Prieto Espiño who finished the race in fourth place with a time of 47:23.

 

 

10km women

 

More fought the race of women.

 

Victory to Amanda Cano in 46:26.

The young Spanish athlete (date of birth 19.8.1994) with this time demolishes her previous personal best of 48:22 (obtained in Jumilla, ESP on Jan. 23, 2016) and close fit on track PB (46:10.05) achieved in Castellon (ESP) the Aug. 01, 2015.

 

Second place went to Maria Larios Lopez in 46:44. Also to her new personal best (previous 48:48 obtained in Jumilla, ESP on Jan. 23, 2016).

The two athletes have raced in Campo de Criptana similarly of last year in Jumilla where they finished second and third behind Maria Perez, separated by only 16". This year the advantage of Amanda Cano against Maria Larios Lopez has increased to 18".

 

Third place went to Maria del Pinar Polo Romero in 50:37 she also personal best (previous 53:19 obtained in Caceres, ESP on Jan. 17, 2015).

 

The first in the U20 was Antia Chamosa Dacasa who finished the race in fourth place with a time of 50:48.
