17/01/2017   Hong Kong (HKG): Hong Kong Race Walking Championship 2017

Even in Hong Kong they were held the Race Walking Championship 2017

Sunday, January 15, 2017 was a good day with a temperature was between 14° and 17° Celsius, but with a humidity fairly high (variable during the race between 80% and 95%) which we Europeans are not accustomed.

Already on the occasion of  "The first walk of 2017" on Jan. 1, 2017 we had reported about the interesting development of race walk in Hong Kong, and now we go back to talking about their Championships which were held on track.

Certainly the performance is not at the level of those we are used to, but on this occasion we have to say that we have seen some pretty interesting results.

10.000m track walk men (open)

The title of Hong Kong champion was won by Tse Chung Hung with a time of 46:42.59 that represents the new national record in Hong Kong over the distance. Obviously it represents also the "all comers record of Competion".

We have to remember that Tse Chung Hung had competed in Nomi (JPN) at the Asian Championships of 20 km several years, and had established there his personal best on 20km (1:30:13) in the edition of March 3, 2015.

Second place to Chin Man Kit with a time of 47:23:34.

Even Man Kit Chin is not unknown in the world of oriental walk, having competed last Oct. 23, 2016 in Takahata (JPN) where in the 20 km has got the time of 1:32:31.

Third place to Siu Man Shun with the time of 53:12.00 (personal best)

Seventeen athletes at the start, of which 14 have completed the race, 2 DNF and 1 DQ.

Not bad for a country in full development of growth.

Second place to Liu Haiying in 56:46.34

Nineteen athletes at the start, of which 18 have completed the race and 1 DNF.
