Next Sunday, February 19 will be held in Adelaide (AUS) in the War Memorial Drive the Oceania and Australian Championships 20km race walk.
At this competition will be also coupled the Oceania U20 Championships on 10km as well as a competition by invitation for U18 on the distance of 5km.
This year the race of 20km will see the entry of many athletes who have recently participated in the Supernova 2 stage which was held in Canberra. Field of entries is therefore very interesting.
The favours of 20km are to Dane Bird-Smith (AUS) who last weekend broke the Australian record in the 3.000m track walk that stood for 26years and it will confirm the brilliant performance of Rio de Janeiro.
However, he will have to contend with opponents of the caliber of Evan Dunfee (CAN), as brilliant in Rio in 50km and Shange Lebogang (RSA) who are not athletes of little account.
In the women's 20km the rose of possible winners is composed by Brigita Virbalyte-Dimšiene (LTU), Alana Barber (NZL), Ainhoa Pinedo González (ESP) and Regan Lamble (AUS).
The latter is the most nominated to win the title of Australian Champion 2016
