Great results of Tom Bosworth in Sheffield at the UK Indoor Championships.

 
5.000m indoor walk men
 
It was granted the victory of Tom Bosworth (GBR).
What was not obvious is the time (18:39.47) representing the new personal best athlete (previous 18: 54.18 obtained in Bratislava - SVK on Jan. 31, 2016) as well as the GBR National record, but also the best world performance indoor of the 2016/2017 season.

The performance won him a $2500 bonus for setting the record. 

Bosworth started at a steady pace and completed the first kilometre on schedule in 3:45.33, already with a clear lead. That tempo stayed pretty much the same as he passed 1600m in 6:01.73 and 2000m in 7:30.55 and 3000m in 11:16.43. 

Now knowing he had the record, the Olympic 20km sixth-placer seemed to be enjoying himself and even picked up the pace as he went through 4000m in 15:00.14. 

Despite some early celebrations, that final kilometre was easily the fastest at 3:39.33 and he carried on his celebrations after the finish.

Victory for Gemma Bridge (GBR) in 13:23:59.
To 1.000m and 2.000m the leader was Heater Lewis in 4:14.85 (2.000m in 8:48.1) before being disqualified.
 
Second place to Emma Achurch (GBR) in 13:48.83
