20/02/2017   Pireus, Athens (GRE): great result of Alexandros Papamichail






Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Palasport "Peace and Friendship" of Piraeus, Athens, GRE took place the 31th Greek Indoor Championships with the two walk events on the usual distance of 3.000m for women and 5.000m for men.

 

 

3000m indoor women

 

Thirteen athletes at the start.

 

The victory went to Panagiota Tsinopoulou (GRE) in 13:14.90

Second place to Athanasia Vaitsi (GRE) in 14:33.87

Third placeto Anastasia Mpania (GRE) in 14:59.41

 

All athletes at the start have completed the race.

 

 

5.000m indoor men

 

This race showed the start the strongest greek walker of the moment Alexandros Papamichail (GRE) who had to contend with the Greek new age (Konstantinos Tentopoulos, Yiannis Vaitsis and the young George Tzatzimskis). Also they come back to racing after a period of inactivity Zacharias Tsamoudakis and Savvas Kravariotis.

 

The victory went as predicted to Alexandros Papamichail in 19:12.98 great performance which places the athlete in fourth place in the season indoor list (2016/2017) behind Francesco Fortunato (ITA).

Second place to Zacharias Tsamoudakis (GRE) in 19:40.37

Third place to Yiannis Vaitsis (GRE) in 20:24.67

 

Season list is leaded by Tom Bosworth (GBR). The same day of Piraeus and Ancona at Athlone in Ireland, Alex Wright (IRL) has also improved his season best stopping the clock in 18:50.70.
