Valverde in the island of El Hierro, the most westerly of the Canary Islands host the 86th edition of the Spanish Championship of road walk.

 

10km U18 boys

Second place to Daniel Jimeno Rivera (ESP - 2000) in 46:14
Third place to Pedro Conesa Ceron (ESP - 2001) in 46:15
 
Thirty-two athletes at the start; 9 finished the race and 3 DNF.

Victory to Kevin Cerro Gudino (ESP - 1998) in 45:12
Second place to Jose Manuel Perez Rubio (ESP - 1999) in 45:18
Third place to Jesus Abad Zorzo (ESP - 1998) in 46:07

Victory to Mariona Garcia Rovira (ESP - 2000) in 51:35
Second place to  Laura Sanabria Sanchez (ESP - 2000) in 52:33

Thirty-eight athletes at the start: 34 finished the race and 4 DNF.
 
 
10km U20 women
 
Victory to Marina Pena Alonso (ESP - 1999) in 48:40
Second place to  Irene Montejo Garces de Marcilla (ESP - 1998) in 49:01
Third place to Carmen Escariz Mella (ESP - 1998) in 49:34
 
Seventeen athletes at the start: 16 finished the race and 1 DNF.
 
 
20km women (senior e U23)
 

Nineteen athltes at the start.

Victory to Lidia Sanchez-Puebla Fernandez (ESP - 1996) in 1:33:58
Second place to  Amanda Cano Gomez (ESP - 1994) in 1:37.44
Third place to Maria Larios Lopez (ESP - 1992) in 1.38:06
 
Two illustrious disqualifications in this race, those of two of the favorites: Lauria Garcia-Caro (shortly after 10km) and Maria Perez Garcia while she was in third position, and moreover 1 DNF.
Are finishing so sixteen athletes.

 

50km men

 
The 50km never gives space to the great surprises.
Even today the two best accreditaded times earn the first two podium positions.
 
Vicotory to Jose Ignacio Diaz (ESP) in 3:58:52.
The athlete of Madridimmediately set his pace with the strength of his experience and the fight to win the race seemed immediately closed.
Second place to Luis Manuel Corchete (ESP) in 4:07:44
Third place to Benjamin Sanchez Bermejo (ESP) in 4:13:22.
 
They had started in 22.
Eight were the athletes who have abandoned the race including Diego Garcia at his first experience on the 50km.
Garcia had animated the race walking shoulder to shoulder with Jose Ignacio Dias for 30km, when it is withdrawn.
Three athletes disqualified: Marc Tur, Pablo Oliva e Fran Duran.
