20/03/2017   Monterrey (MEX): Benjamin Thorne (CAN) and Erica de Sena (BRA) are the winners in 20 km

In the Mexican afternoon (night in Europe) were held the 20km men and women.

20km men

It seemed very strange that Benjamin Thorne (CAN) had been entered in the 50km and maybe it had to be a mistake.
The bronze medal of Beijing 2015 has successfully participated at 20km instead.

After a race walked at a pace rather bland (wheather temperature wasn't in favour of the athletes) from the leading group of more or less ten athletes, just over three quarters of the race in three are forcing the pace and earn about twenty seconds: Benjamin Thorne, Jose Luis Doctor Morales (MEX) and Horacio Nava (MEX), the 50km specialist.

In the final, the Canadian force again the pace and he went on to win (1:24:52) with a dozen of seconds in fronto of  José Luis Doctor Morales (1:25:02).
Third is the other Mexican Horacio Nava in 1:25:06

Needless to hide behind a finger. These two successes in today's 20km and 50km of two Canadians are telling us that their project of  "the world domination" set by their coach Gerry Dragomir is not so far-fetched.
China and Japan permitting !

Meanwhile, they continue undeterred to grind kilometers and races and to have fun. Compliments !

20km women

The Mexican afternoon also proposed sunshine and high temperature in the 20km reserved for women in the Parque Fundidora circuit.

The first ten kilometers are leaded by a group of five athlete: Erica de Sena (BRA), the two Portuguese Ines Henriques and Ana Cabecinha, Guadalupe Sanchez (MEX) and Kimberly Garcia (PER),
A short distance far Alana Barber (NZL).

Shortly after the 12km Brazilian, who continues to reap honors and positive results as in her brilliant 2016 season, forced the pace and start earning meters.
It will no longer be taken up and win the 20km in 1:32:27.
Certainly not a great result (this is the 13th time ever that equals that of Taicang, CHN obtained May 3, 2014), but it is considered that all best female athletes competed last week in Ciudad Juarez.

Absent Maria Guadalupe "Lupita" Gonzalez the results reflects that of Ciudad Juarez and for the first three positions would be a photocopy if we do not find a reversal in the arrival of the two Portuguese.
Today in fact the second place goes to Ines Henriques (POR) in 1:33:21
Third is instead Ana Cabecinha (POR) in 1:34:16
The first of the Mexican, Guadalupe Sanchez (MEX), is fourth in 1:35:08

In the following table we propose a women results comparison between Ciudad Juarez and Monterrey
