26/03/2017   Cassino (ITA): Victory to Francesco Fortunato and Valentina Trapletti

Nice day and many participants (more than 450).

Immediately go to lead Federico Tontodonati, Marco de Luca and Francesco Fortunato.
Following at short distance a group with Giorgio Rubino, Michele Antonelli, Vito Minei, Gianluca Picchiottino, Teodorico Caporaso, Leonardo Dei Tos and Andrea Agrusti.

Towards mid-race trying to force the pace Federico Tontodonati, but the other two less only ten meters.
Behind Rubino he pulled off a few meters Picchittino and the group of other followers.
In the group of the top three Francesco Fortunato who really appears in one wonderful day.

Tontodonati takes about ten meters ahead of the pair of Yellow Flame, while Rubino and Picchiottino follow a hundred meters and a few meters ahead of Leonardo Dei Tos.

One lap later Francesco Fortunato force the pace and pull off Marco De Luca and goes to catch of Federico Tontodonati which is about fifty meters ahead of him. The games for the title are by no means finished; far from it.
In fact, the next round presents together the pair Tontodonati - Fortunato that from a technical point of view it is a great see.
Behind thjere is Marco De Luca and still behind Giorgio Rubino who pulled off Gianluca Picchiottino which in turn was joined by Leonardo of Tos.
One more lap and Francesco Fortunato force again the pace and off Federico Tontonati must control  the return of Marco de Luca.
Behind them: Rubino, Dei Tos, and Picchiottino.

Reacts Tontodonati and the advantage of Fortunato is only about forty meters when there are four rounds to go.
Behind Giorgio Rubino, while Gianluca Picchiottino pulled off a few meters Leonardo Dei Tos while doing well under Andrea Agrusti

Just over one lap to the most important problem for Fortunato, Tontodonati and De Luca is to disentangle among all the doubled athletes.
Behind Rubini, Leonardo Dei Tos has again recovered on Gianluca Picchiottino.

In our news of Feb. 21, 2017 (click here) we had indicated as his possible "as if" the 20km the performance of 1:22:09. We are happy that today Fortunato has proved us right on time.

Sixth place to  Gianluca Picchiottino 1:23:46 (new personal best - previous of 1:26:12 obtained in Cassino il March 20, 2016)

Among the first five arrived Francesco Fortunato is the only one to get on this new course of Cassino the personal best, and along with this also the entry standard for the World Championships in London 2017.
The progress of the young athlete of Yellow Flame from June 4, .2016, the day when in Tunis performed on 10,000m track walk his first time under 40 minutes (39:46:25) was a Rossini crescendo.
Congratulations to him and to his coach Patrizio Parcesepe, who knew how to guide him to a beatiful race walk. The cherry on the cake is the fact that among the top five on arrival is the only one not to have seen on the posting DQ board any red card.

At U23 level (and younger) this is the updated list of Europe, also taking into account the results of the athletes of Russia, which are currently still excluded from international competitions.
