30/03/2017   Merida (ESP): Spanish 20km road walk Championships preview






Merida, Extremadura will host Sunday, April 2, 2017 the 69th edition of Spain 20km race walk Championships reserved to men and U23.
 
The entry list, not yet final, has already made up of high-level athletes names among which are those of the World Champion in Beijing 2015, Miguel Angel Lopez, and Alvaro Martin that last year in Rome on the occasion of the IAAF World Team Championships won the individual bronze medal.
 
They should be two of them in particular to fight over the victory, but there are three other athletes to have a personal best very close and under the limit of excellence of 1:22:00.

Miguel Angel Lopez, Alvaro Martin and Luis Alberto Amezcua have already raced in 2017 on 20km with different technical options.
 
 
The first chose the Lugano International race where he finished third, Alvaro Martin instead competed in the recent leg of the IAAF Challenge in Monterrey, in altitude, where he arrived eighth.
 
 
Luis Alberto Amezcua has chosen to race at the French Championships in La Roche-sur-Yon (FRA), where he finished second.

Diego Garcia had instead competed in El Hierro, in the championships of Spain of 50k where he had stopped to 30km while he were second position and he had passed the 20km in 1:35:19.
 

 

It promises to be a very interesting race being giving away four seats for the Europe of Podebrady Cup (CZE).
