23/04/2017   Antonella Palmisano: Historical italian record on 10.000m track walk in 41:57.29

Today, took place in three different city the leg of Clubs race walk Italian Championships dedicated to track race.

The concentrations were those of:
- Bovisio Masciago for Italy - North
- Orvieto for Italy - Center
- Acquaviva delle Fonti for Italy - South

Orvieto

At the level of importance of the athletes in the race the most important concentration was that of Orvieto where they participated
- in the 10,000m race on senior men: Francesco Fortunato, Marco de Luca, Gianluca Picchiottino and Michele Antonelli
- In the 10,000m race on women's senior track: Antonella Palmisano to return to races after the brilliant 2016 season, Maria Vittoria Becchetti, Eleonora Dominici

Antonella Palmisano obtains the most important and historic result.
Her victory at Orvieto is accompanied by the new Italian record on distance with time of 41:57.29
The previous record dates back to 1993 and lasted for almost 24 years (8.5.1993) and established another historic name for the Italian race walk, Ileana Salvador, at Fana/Bergen in Sweden.
It also featured Nadezda Ryashkina's world record established on July 24, 1990 in Seattle (USA) in 41:56.24, which however could not be ratified for the absence of three international judges.

Second place for Diana Cacciotti (ITA) in 46:37.05
Third place for Mariavittoria Becchetti (ITA) in 48:11:32
Unfortunately, there is still a disqualification in the final part of the race for Eleonora Dominici (ITA).
It is a pleasure to remember that the first three were trained by two coaches who at that time were teammates in the Yellow Flames: Patrizio Parcesepe (Palmisano and Becchetti) and Sandro "Ciccillo" Bellucci (Cacciotti). Who knows how they will be happy today !

For the most sohisticated people and interested in the numbers, remember that the race of women took place in the fourth lane, where the development of one lap is 422.59m

Of course Patrizio Parcesepe will be even happier because Francesco Fortunato (ITA), winning the men's race, also established the new personal best in 39:44.14 (previous 39:46.25 established in Tunis on June 4, 2016)
But to rejoice will also be Massimo Passoni, who sees his pupil Gianluca Picchiottino (ITA) also at the historic result of 39:49.26 by destroying the previous personal best of 41:31.66 established together with Fortunato in Tunis. Perhaps it would be the passport for the European Cup at Podebrady ?
Third place for Marco De Luca (ITA) in 40:54.26 (near to the personal best of  40:48.0 established in Viterbo, ITA in 2009).

The technical and chronometric value of these results leads to the background of all the others of the other categories in Orvieto and even more than those of other sites, despite in Bovisio Masciago Leonardo Dei Tos (40:21.50) and Massimo Stano (40:24.60) obtained the new personal best on the distance (previous: Dei Tos - 40:22.00, Stano - 41:38.64).
