23/04/2017   Naumburg 2017 (GER): Christopher Linke and Julia Takacs win 20km






Fresh temperature, alternating with a warm sun, with hail in the last few kilometers: the weather was very variable today.

 
 
20 km men
 
On go and back course of one kilometer at the third kilometer two athletes had forced the pace: Christopher Linke (GER) and Nils Brembach (GER) with a pace around 4 minutes/km.
At the penultimate lap Linke took the lead by breaking off Nils Brembach and won in 1:20:26 his fourth championship title on this distance.
Second place then for Nils Brembach, in 1:20:43 obtaining the entry standard for the World Championships in London and the personal best (previous of 1:20:56 obtained in Podebrady, CZE on April 9, 2016)
 
Hagen Pohle (GER) was fighting for bronze when after 16km Karl Junghanns (GER) passed him and arriving in third place in 1:22:08.
Hagen Pohle arrived fourth in 1:22:29.

In women race, the victory went to Julia Takacs (ESP) in 1:30:14 but, of course, she competed out of the German Championship. Champion of Germany was Emilia Lehmeyer GER) in 1:36:20.
Third (but silver) Saskia Feige (GER) in 1:37:14

Fourth (but bronze) Kathrin Shulze (GER) in 1:48:43 

 

With this performance Julia Takacs is in first place in the 2017 European list (without Russian athletes who will not be able to participate in next European Cup in Podebrady).

In the U20 races, as expected, victories  to favorites of the eve Teresa Zurek (women) in 45:09 and Leo Köpp (42:28) in men.

Another historic 50km with only eight athletes at the start (7 men and 1 woman): three Mexicans, 2 Spanish, 2 Italians and 1 Swiss.
They finish the race in four, including Maria Dolores Marcos Valero (ESP) who sets the Spanish record on the distance at 4:48:26. The previous best result was of Marina Hoerneke-Gil with the time of 5:37:24 obtained in Basildon (ESP) in 1993.
