20 km men
On go and back course of one kilometer at the third kilometer two athletes had forced the pace: Christopher Linke (GER) and Nils Brembach (GER) with a pace around 4 minutes/km.
At the penultimate lap Linke took the lead by breaking off Nils Brembach and won in 1:20:26 his fourth championship title on this distance.
Second place then for Nils Brembach, in 1:20:43 obtaining the entry standard for the World Championships in London and the personal best (previous of 1:20:56 obtained in Podebrady, CZE on April 9, 2016)
Hagen Pohle (GER) was fighting for bronze when after 16km Karl Junghanns (GER) passed him and arriving in third place in 1:22:08.
Hagen Pohle arrived fourth in 1:22:29.

In women race, the victory went to Julia Takacs (ESP) in 1:30:14 but, of course, she competed out of the German Championship. Champion of Germany was Emilia Lehmeyer GER) in 1:36:20.

Another historic 50km with only eight athletes at the start (7 men and 1 woman): three Mexicans, 2 Spanish, 2 Italians and 1 Swiss.
They finish the race in four, including Maria Dolores Marcos Valero (ESP) who sets the Spanish record on the distance at 4:48:26. The previous best result was of Marina Hoerneke-Gil with the time of 5:37:24 obtained in Basildon (ESP) in 1993.
