07/06/2017   A chance to meet many legendary athletes

When?   Saturday 8th July 2017

Where?  The Tower Thistle Hotel, London E1

Why?     To pay tribute to Britain's World Championship race walkers

The 2017 IAAF World Championships are coming to London and it acts as a timely reminder that Britain has had its fair share of representation at these championships over the years.

As such on Saturday 8th July the Race Walking Association are to stage a Tribute Luncheon to celebrate the race walkers who have represented Great Britain at the IAAF World Championships since 1976 - all of whom will be invited.

This will be the third such function following on from the hugely successful Olympic and Commonwealth events held in previous years and again provides an opportunity to meet and pay tribute to our glorious athletes.

We are again staging the event at the Tower Thistle Hotel, London E1 overlooking the River Thames and the Tower of London. There is car parking available at the hotel and it is within sight of 3 railway / tube stations (Fenchurch Street/Tower Hill/Tower Gateway).

It will be a carvery style luncheon in a room that has a capacity to sit 140 and we hope that we can fill the venue. The lunch time function provides us all with the opportunity to attend by cheap-day return without the need for an overnight stop.

Guest speakers will include Olympian Tom Bosworth and World and Olympic Chief Judge Steve Taylor.

We feel that this will be our last such occasion for this type of function and we sincerely hope that as many of you as possible will attend for what promises to be another truly memorable occasion.

The cost is only £30.00 and tickets are available from Pam Ficken: : Owl Cottage, 101 Meldreth Road, Whaddon, Royston, SG8 5RS
