12/06/2017   Vagos (POR): Joao Vieira and Ana Cabecinha Portuguese Champions






Vagos in Portugal hosted this weekend the Portugal Championships on track.

The two races took place on the classic 10,000m distance.

 

 

10,000m track walk men

 

For the eighth time in his career, and for the fourth consecutive time, Joao Vieira (POR) won the title in 41:26.20

After covered half race in 21:04 Joao Vieira crossed the second half of the race faster than the first (20:22.60) and had no difficulty in winning with 48" advantage.

Second place to Miguel Carvalho (POR) in 42:14.19

Third place to Miguel Rodrigues (U23) in 42:18.29 for him is the new personal best (previous 42:12.72 obtained in Maia on June 25, 2016); this performance placing him sixth in the European U23 list on the track distance.

 

 

10,000m track walk women

 

Victory to Ana Cabecinha (POR) in 43:18.72 after having passed halfway in 21:58.0

This time is only 10”  higher than the personal best of the same athlete (Portugal's national record) of 43:08.17 obtained in Seixal (POR) on July 19, 2008.

Second place to the stainless Ines Henriques (POR) in 43:46.06 (split time at 5.000m in 21:59.0)

Third place to Ana Cabecinha's teammate Edna Barros (POR) in 48:28.12 (split time at 5.000m in 23:50.0)
