Sixty-five years ago, the man on the lead entered the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki after having been well-combed, and after returning the comb to the President of the Race Walk Jury, Armando Libotte.
They were other times, but he, Giuseppe Dordoni, could not get mad, by a great lord who was, at the most important appointment with history, that much-talked Olympic tale.
There were also other times in the human relationships: today the curtain of the comb between the athlete and the Chief Judge would be unthinkable, but Giuseppe Dordoni was so done and so was by all respected.
Pino Dordoni for all, the "Cav." for the finest, was a symbol, as well as the man of reference for over thirty years for the Italian walk.
In the memory of Maurizio Damilano, Pino Dordoni is the man who has made a great race walk in Italy twice: the first with his wins, the second by fiddling in Fidal for his safeguard, then resuscitating on the overall results and not just singles.
Pino Dordoni had been a great stylist, and he also directed his pupil Vittorio Visini, who followed in person, engaging in anyway the technical / organizational construction of the years that led the march and then to the great successes.
