18/09/2017   Diez (GER): Great performance of Hagen Pohle. Teresa Zurek wins in women

On Saturday, September 16, 2017, German Championships were held in Diez (GER) on the distance of 10,000m track on the male level and on the 5,000m track on a female level. The races were also valid for the German Championships Master.

Fresh and sunny day, with very favorable weather conditions.

In this race, a great surprise occurred: the favorite Christopher Linke (GER) was beaten by team-mates Hagen Pohle (GER). Both are competing for S.D. Potsdam and both are trained by Ronald Weigel.

Hagen Pohle, stayed with Linke until 6km and then goes to set the pace.
This allowed them to take advantage of a hundred meters and to win the race at 39:39.45, which becomes the third world performance of the year on the distance, as well as being the new personal best of the athlete (previous 39:54.33 established at Juteborg, GER on June 22, 2013 always on the occasion of the German Championships on track.

Until Tuesday Sep. 5, 2017 Francesco Fortunato (ITA) went on holiday (and to do some training) and then he returned to race in Trieste and we will see again at the start of the Final Gold Club's Championship: we will know that if for the Italian athlete the time spent in Germany was more than training or holiday. Of course we would like to see him react to this performance by Hagen Pohle and return to the third place in the world list.
