At Vicenza, in the gold finals of the U18 Clubs Championships, a great performance of Riccardo Orsoni lends the day of race walk that was certainly not among the most exhilarating.
Orsoni, however, with the time of 21:39.12 obtained the new persdonal best (previous 21:53.72, Bergamo on Oct. 1, 2016) the seventh world performance of the year at this distance and is pleased to see two Italian exponents in the first seven athletes U18.

5.000m U18 hoys
Nine athletes at the start and eight arrived, but among these, three had to take a break in the Pit Lane Area to suffer their penalty of 60".
From a Club perspective, this is certainly the positive result of Pit Lane's rule that does not cause disqualifications except for the fourth red card and the Teams (in this case Fiamme Gialle Simoni , Andrea Milardi's Athletics Rieti, and Atl Cento Torri di Pavia) can put 8, 7 and 5 points respectively for the final standings.
However, there is some perplexity about the Jury's activity, which, however, is duly always respected and shared, that Parma's U18 boy has been subjected to two red cards (one for bent knee and the other for loss of contact) while he was immune to Grosseto under the caulking forks of an international jury that in the case of red card and Pit Lane had shown itself extremely rigorous, brave and precise.
Certainly every race is a race in itself, but we allow one more time to suggest a serious eye-opening reflection between the parties involved, which clarifies the points of view to look to the future more serenely.
However, Riccardo Orsoni won in 21:39:12 without any difficulty with this split times:
- 1000: 4:22.1
- 2000: 8:41.8
- 3000: 13:02.2
- 4000: 18:01.4
Second place for Mikias Melis in 23:49.72
Third place for Emanuele Cozza in 24:31.96
5.000m U18 girls
An athlete wins who, if there had not been the Pit Lane rule, would be disqualified.
The difference between the first and the second was so high, and Laura Pirola quietly waited in the Pit Lane Area, the 60" penalty for her three red cards (bent knee), and then set off to win in 26:40.61.
Second place to Martina Marconi in 29:01.93
Third place to Natasha Kacbufi in 29:24.57.
