Jorge Miguel was honored with Ordem Olímpica Nacional the highest honor in the country by the Portuguese Olympic Committee.

We've known Jorge Miguel for many years and we soon realized that we were in front of a person full of strength, enthusiasm, intelligence, with great passion for race walk. A different person full of humility and desire that distinguished him from others.

This set of attributes led him to understand how he might have been more useful to his athletes and Portuguese athletics. Much before anyone else, he fought to prepare his training team to the fullest, and he used all the different training mechanisms he had available, first of all the use of altitude training.

He achieved with his athletes unexpected results until then, the last of which is the world record and world title of Inês Henriques, which certainly must have Jorge Miguel achieved this magnificent achievement.

In this day, seeing him receive this great prize, a prize for a career of excellence, we all feel full of enormous pride and feel immense pleasure.
