Colombia won the 20km race walk event of the XVIII edition of the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta

 
 
20km men
 
By surprise, the victory went to Manuel Esteban Soto Ruiz (COL) with the time of 1:26:32.
Second place to Jose Mauricio Arteaga Sanchez (ECU) in 1:27:03
Third place to Eider Arevalo Truque (COL) in 1:27:47
 
The chronometric results tell how long the race was dealt with by all athletes who had much lower entry times.
 
Nine athletes at the start of which six have completed the race and three have been disqualified.
 
 
 

 

 
 
20 km women
 
Certainly more interesting and fought the race of women also by virtue of the battle for the victory between Sandra Lorena Arenas (COL) and Kimberly Garcia (PER) together until four laps to go.
She won Sandra Lorena Arenas (COL) in 1:32:39 at his fifth 20km (plus a 20.000m on track) this year far enough from 1:28:10 that in London 2017 was 5th.
Second place to Kimberly Garcia (PER) in 1:33:07 at his sixth 20km this year, too far from 1:29:13, which in London 2017 was the 7th place.
Third place to Angela Melania Castro (BOL) in 1:34:05 also at her fifth 20km (plus a 20.000m on track) this year. In London she scored 23rd in 1:31.34; she has a personal best of 1:30:33 obtained in Rome on 7.5.2016.
 
Eight athletes at the start of which seven have completed the race and one was disqualified.
 
 

 

 

 

50km men

 

There was no story.

The temperature has now risen and now exceeds 30° Celsius.
The race at a very bumpy pace was won by Andres Chocho (ECU) in 4:14:20.
Second place to Ronald Rey Quispe Misme (BOL) in 4:25:30.
Third place to Claudio Paulino Villanueva Flores (ECU) in 4:49:33 after falling to the ground for the heat at two laps from the end. Villanueva then got up and with a huge effort of will completed the race.
 
Seven athletes at the start of which three have completed the race and four were disqualified.
