This morning the city of Guadix (ESP) hosted the “VII Campeonato de Espana de marcha de invierno de promocion” with an interesting series of races that began at 10:15 with the 3km U16 female and continued with the remaining races over the distance of 5km reserved for male U16, male and female U18, and male and female U20.
The number of participants was of good level. Spanish race walk (Spain is among the most important nations in the world in this specialty), can always offer a good standard of participation.
Category U16
- 5km boys: victory to Pablo Pastor Marin (ESP) in 23:18, in front of Juan Francisco Soto Egea (ESP) in 24:17 and of Raul Jimeno Rivera (ESP) in 24:30.
- 3km girls: victory to Lucia Redoldo Ardid (ESP) in 15:14, in front of Candela Lopez-Osa (ESP) in 15:30and of Silvia Vilar Nieto (ESP) in 16:01.
Category U18
- 5km U18 boys: victory to Pedro Conesa Ceron (ESP) in 22:09, in front of Jose Manuel Naranjo Murillo (ESP) in 22:15 and of Jose Mestre Martin (ESP) in 22:19.
- 5km U18 girls: victory to Iria Rivas Iglesias (ESP) in 24:55, in front of Ana Pulgarin Cardeno (ESP) in 25:43 and of Sofia Rodriguez Hernandez (ESP) in 25:54.
The most interesting races were those of the 5km U20 women and the 5km U20 men who presented at the start the athletes of greatest interest.
5km U20 women
Surprisingly, the favorite Antia Chamosa Dacasa (ESP) who boasts a personal best of 23:39.14 (on 5.000m track walk, and 24:10 on the road distance) lost the race in favour of the teammate Leyre Aramburu Gonzalez (ESP) who won in 24:55.
Second place to Antia Chamosa Dacasa (ESP) in 25.11
Third place to Gemma Mora Martinez (ESP) in 25:13, who has been training only 12 months.

No surprise, however, in the men's junior competition.
Victory to the favorite of the eve Jose Manuel Perez Rubio (ESP) in 21.27 that establishes the new personal best (previous of 21:43 established in Nerja, ESP the October 1, 2017).
Second place to Eloy Hornero Gallent (ESP) in 22:41.
Third place to Alvaro Loper Nunez (ESP) in 22:52.

The two most important tests of the XIII Memorial Alcalde race valid for the XXXII Grand Prix City of Guadix have seen the following results.

Victory to Ivan Pajuelo Paredes (ESP) in 20:04
Second place to Manuel Bermudez Jimenez (ESP) in 20:30 who wins the U23 category with the second place overall.
Third place to Francisco José Duran Acuna (ESP) in 20:39

Also in this race 33 athletes at the start
Victory to Maria Perez Garcia (ESP) in 21:52 which also wins the U23 category and establish the new personal best on the distance (previous of 22:33 established in Murcia, ESP on June 24, 2016).
