Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, hosts the 11th Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos from 9 to 12 December 2017.
Athletics is organized with the support of the Federacion Costarricense de Atletismo.
On the second day of competitions (December 10, 2017) the three walking events were scheduled, starting at times almost impossible for the European race walk, but obviously dependent on the climatic conditions of heat and humidity.
At 5:30am the men's 35km race started with four athletes at the start:

Victory in absolute tranquility to Erick Bernabé Barrondo (GUA) in 1:26:41 which represents the new record of the Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos (previous of 1:27:45 established by Julio Martinez, GUA in the 1994 edition)
Second place to José Maria Raymundo Cox (GUA) in 1:30:34
Third place to Yassir Ameth Cabrera Lopez (PAN) in 1:33:40
20km women
The first three places went all to athletes from Guatemala.
Victory to Mirna Sucely Ortiz Flores (GUA) in 1:35:15 which represents the new record of the Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos (previous of 1:40:29 established by Natividad Teresita Collado, GUA in the 2001 edition)
Second place to Mayra Carolina Herrera Perez (GUA) in 1:35:46
Third place to Maritza Rafaela Poncio Tzul (GUA) in 1:38:80
35km men
Guatemala on the shields also in the 35km.
Victory to Bernardo Uriel Barrondo Garcia (GUA) in 2:46.39. Also this time represents the new record of the Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos (previous of 2:55.34 established by Julio Uria, GUA in the 1997 edition).
Second place to Jose Leonidas Romero (HON) in 2:57:21
Third place to Luis Angel Sanchez Perez (GUA) in 3: 05.44
The medals table of race walking show 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals for Guatemala.
